The following policies have been designed in accordance with the guidelines of local, state, and national organizations that support a music teachers’ profession. As with other schools, public and private, it is not possible to offer rescheduling for missed classes. The JLM Music Academy reserves the right to terminate a student or client's membership.
Missed | Canceled | Tardy Lesson Policy
In the event that a client and/or student anticipates an absence or will not be able to make their scheduled lesson, they must notify the academy immediately via My Music Staff (MMS). It is the client and/or student’s responsibility to access their MMS portal and cancel their own lesson(s). Once a lesson is canceled by the student or client via MMS, the academy is notified immediately.
There are no refunds or credits for student/client forfeited lessons. Please keep in mind that each client has a specific time reserved for each enrolled student. If a client is tardy to a lesson, they will not receive a full session.

Biography Policy
When a student of the JLM Music Academy is listed in a performance program with a performance organization, the biography must include that they are a student of José Luis Muñoz. Suggested wording: student name is a student of José Luis Muñoz (JLM Music Academy) or student name is a student of José Luis Muñoz.
Probation Policy
If a student is consistently unprepared (having had very little or no practice) or is displaying a negative attitude; they will be placed on probation. Probation means keeping a four-week practice log, that must be signed by a parent. After four weeks, their progress will be evaluated. If the student regresses back to the poor choice of little to no practice, their membership will be terminated.
Termination Policy
A student's membership may be terminated, if they express a consistent negative attitude in regards to instruction. A negative attitude consists of a blatant disregard for instruction or coaching (choosing not to do the work) and disrespectful communication. If the student is not making progress and doesn’t care about making progress, the academy reserves the right to terminate their membership. This will not occur without plenty of discussion with both the student and parent(s). A student may be open to learning and develop under different teaching techniques, so the student will be invited to find and work with another instructor. There are no refunds or credits when a student and client's membership is terminated.
Make-Up Lesson Policy
Missed lessons may be made up within a 4 weeks period and are subject to the availability of the music instructor. Due to a consistently full schedule, the academy is not responsible for scheduling Make-Up Lessons. When a client schedules a Make-Up Lesson the student must have practiced and be prepared.
Disenrollment Policy
If one decides to discontinue enrollment, please allow enough time for discussion with one’s instructor before discontinuing lessons, as such a change can have emotional impact on students. Ample time for discussion, will allow us together to determine the best course of action to ensure a positive end to one’s relationship with JLM Music Academy. Clients who stop tuition payment or dis-enroll who wish to re-enroll at a later date will be subject to the current Enrollment Policy and fees. Finally, if a client moves to a neighborhood which is not serviced by the JLM Music Academy or chooses not to complete the remainder of the month and/or quarter that has already been paid in full, one will forego any unused lessons.
Instructor Vacation Policy
Your instructor receives six weeks of vacation per year. One week being Winter-Break and five additional weeks of his choice. These six weeks are built into your tuition. Tuition will not be credited or prorated due to these vacation weeks. The lessons that fall during these weeks will not be rescheduled or credited.
Contagious Illness
The JLM Music Academy reserves the right to refuse lessons to ill or possibly contagious students.
Subject to change: All of the policies herein are subject to change at the discretion of the JLM Music Academy.
